Best mac apps
Posted on 21. Sep, 2008 by Stephen in Uncategorized
Over the years, I’ve compiled a list of my favorite Mac apps. Check them out and let me know what you think:
- Adium – A no-brainer when it comes to instant messaging. Supports multiple messengers. AIM, Gtalk, MSN, Yahoo, etc.
- Transmission – The best, and most simple Bittorrent client out there for mac.
- Appzapper – There are several other similiar apps, but this one looks cool and works very well. Simple, drag and drop interface.
- Caffeine – It gets annoying sometimes when you’re screen sleeps on you every 5 minutes. Click on caffeine to keep your Mac awake.
- Cha-Ching – Super simple, clean interface. Great for keeping track of your finances, and creating a budget.
- Coda – Super nice css/html editor. Extremely well designed. If you are good with HTML, this could replace Dreamweaver.
- CoverSutra – Displays your album artwork in iTunes on your desktop.
- Flow – Great, well designed FTP client. Drag and drop interface can be a little frustrating at times.
- Transmit – The best FTP client out there.
- iFreeMem – A small app that optimizes the Ram on your system. Nice if you don’t feel like restarting after working your system hard.
- Leech – A small download manager that works outside of your browser, keeping your browser nice and fast while downloads are going.
- NeoOffice – Best open-source alternative to Office for mac. A bit slow, but worth the download.
- Max – CD ripping application, use it all the time.
- Parallels – Virtual pc software. I use this to test websites and run a few programs that are PC only.
- Puzzle Quest – A fun game, check it out.
- Quicksilver – This should come with OS X as it is so handy. Launch an app without even clicking anything.
- Simple Tagger – I use this alot to tag MP3s.
- Things – Task management on Mac. A great GTD app. I use this daily.
- Twitterific – Awesome Twitter app.
- Yojimbo – Personal organizer. Save your serial numbers, notes, images, and more.
Well, that’s that. Happy downloading!

nice list, thanks
